He Brought to the Jury the Moral Authority and Judicial Wisdom

I remember meeting and discussing the issue of human rights in Latin America and Palestine/Lebanon with your husband Hanna Mikhail, both in Brussels and Rome.
He brought to the Jury the moral authority and judicial wisdom that comes from an active political life of struggle against Israeli tyrrany and deep knoweldge of international law. I personally learned a great deal about the history of the Palestinian liberation struggle during our meals together, and I was impressed by his great humanitarian solidarity with oppressed people the world over.
He was a true consequential Internationalist who remains in our collective consciousness.

Petras has a long history of commitment to social justice. In 1973-76 he was a member of the Bertrand Russell Tribunal on Repression in Latin America.
